Okay, boomer gals, it’s the third week in January—-how are those “I’m going to lose weight and get in shape” New Year’s resolutions going?
I’m already starting to see some resolutioners lose focus and fall off the wagon, so I made a little video for you in which I reveal a secret weapon you can use to increase the likelihood you’ll stick with your program this year.
This “secret weapon” is a household item you probably have within 4 feet of you as you read this! Put it to use as I suggest in the video below—and your resolutions are more likely to come to fruition!
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be filming a few more videos for you to help you get in the best shape of your life. If you have experienced set backs in your effort to lose weight and improve your health, please leave a comment below. I’ll try to give you ideas in a future video on how to avoid those set backs this time.
Need accountability in order to stick with your plan? I’m here for you!
Leave a comment below and let me know what your specific goals are and when you plan to achieve them. I’m happy to keep you accountable and offer suggestions when I can.
If you’d like to get more focused by using a goal sheet, I’ve made the goal sheet I use for my personal training clients available to you. Download your goal sheet HERE.
Committed to your success,
Becky

Hi Becky,
Thank you for the goal sheet! I printed it out this morning and plan on posting it where I will see it often; maybe on the bathroom mirror? One of my goals is to lose 15 pounds by April 15th (my 51st birthday). Do you think that is too much to expect? I have a treatmill in my living room and a Wii system on the way. I like eating healthy and I’m not a big fan of sweets, so I think I have a small advantage here. My downfall is alcohol. I usually have one or two beers a day, sometimes more on the weekend. I know that this is causing me to gain weight. My main concern is belly fat; I have “spillage” over the waist band of all my pants. I also need to force myself to eat because I will sometimes go all day without eating anything.
I love your website and plan to utilize it as often as I can! Thanks again for the goal sheet, and I look forwrd to viewing more of your videos.
Hi Tina,
Glad you found the goal sheet helpful!
To answer your question about weight loss: Fifteen pounds by April 15th is do-able. Just remember that scale weight doesn’t tell the whole story
. Since you tell me that belly fat is a concern for you, why don’t we add a goal to your goal sheet of some inches lost in your belly? But, let’s get specific and put a number to it. Measure your waistline with a measuring tape today and then measure it again in about 6 weeks to check your progress. How about you set a goal of 1.5″ lost in your belly by 4/15/10?
Yes, you are at an advantage if sweets aren’t a big deal to you (wish I could say the same for me!!). Continue to eat healthfully, and watch your portions. Why don’t you try to write out a few meals that you could eat over the next few days and then shop for them. This will help remind you to eat, and it will be better for fat loss. If you go for long periods w/out eating, your body might try to slow down it’s metabolism in order to “conserve energy”. Eating small meals throughout the day is your best bet for weight loss. I won’t tell you to stop the beer totally, but if you have, say, 12 beers a week, you’re probably looking at about 1,400 liquid calories a week. Can you cut it down by 2/3rds? Enjoy a beer every other day or so? This will go a long way towards weight loss!
You can do this, Tina!

Becky,
Nice site. Great video. You set the bar high. You are absolutely right. We won’t achieve our goals with out writing them done. Such a simple thing, yet very powerful. Thank you for your kind comments on my blog.
